Oliver Pawle is a vice chairman in the Investment Banking Division
of UBS.
He graduated from Nottingham University with a degree in Industrial
Economics. After university, he worked at Price Waterhouse as a chartered
accountant and in Corporate Finance with Baring Brothers in London and
New York. He joined County NatWest in 1980 and was responsible for developing
their investment banking business in Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan.
He joined UBS Phillips & Drew in 1986, becoming a managing director
in 1992 and Head of Corporate Broking in 1993. Following the merger of
UBS and SBC, he was appointed Chairman of Corporate Broking for the new
firm. He has been involved in many of the largest transactions in the
UK and European markets, including flotations, equity financings, mergers,
acquisitions and restructurings. He is currently an investment banking
adviser to a number of large companies in the UK, including the Royal
Bank of Scotland and British Land.
He is a governor of Goodenough College, an international college for
post-graduate students in London and is also on the Corporate Working
Group of the National Theatre. He is a member of the advisory board of
Reform a “think tank” involved in the reform of the public
sector. His interests include current affairs, theatre, golf and horse
racing. |
