Declan is the Chairman and CEO of FD in the Americas. He is a main Board
Director of FD International, the holding company which manages the FD
network worldwide and an Executive Committee member of FTI Consulting,
FD International’s parent company. With over two decades of experience
in journalism and strategic consulting, Declan is recognized as one of
the country’s leading crisis communications counselors, working
globally across multiple industries advising large-scale corporations
on a variety of reputational issues. He has been named by PR Week magazine
as one of the leading communications professionals in the U.S. and has
been recognized on numerous occasions for his professional achievements
with FD globally. For the past four years he has been named by Irish
America magazine as one of the Top 100 Irish American business leaders
in the U.S.
Prior to FD, having enjoyed a distinguished career in journalism, including
his selection as the AT Cross Business Journalist of the Year in 1994,
Declan worked in senior positions with a number of leading communications
companies before starting his own business in 1999. This business was
later acquired by the holding company which then owned FD, thus beginning
his career within the FD international network. He and Charles Watson
led the management buyout of FD in July 2003 and the subsequent sale
of the company to FTI Consulting in September of 2006. In his role as
Chairman and CEO of Financial Dynamics in the Americas, Declan oversees
the company's operations in New York, Bogota, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles,
Panama, San Francisco, Salt Lake City and Washington, D.C. He is also
Chairman of FD Ireland.
Declan is a Main Board Director of the American Ireland Fund, a non
profit organization dedicated to investing in community and peace building
initiatives on the island of Ireland. He is a Director of Glucksman Ireland
House at New York University and is the Chairman of the U.S. Foundation
Board of the National University of Ireland, Galway, from which he graduated
with an honors BA degree in 1989 studying English Literature and Law.
He is a Director of Youth Inc., a New Jersey based non profit organization.
He is also a member of the Advisory Board of New Mountain Capital, a
New York-based private equity company. |
