A graduate in Modern History from Kings College London University, Charles joined FD in 1990 after several years’ broad experience within the communications consultancy sector.
During the 1990s he played a major role in building up FD’s financial PR consultancy business, leading teams in numerous IPOs, M&A situations and major crisis management projects.
In 1999 he was appointed Managing Director of Financial Dynamics, with specific responsibility for the development of the consultancy’s services UK operations.
In 2001 he became Chief Executive and in 2002, he was responsible for the creation and launch of FD International – which comprised an integrated business communications consultancy network with offices across Europe and North America.
In July 2003 he led the 70-strong MBO team which acquired FD International from the Cordiant Communications Group, an event which helped catalyse the rapid growth of FD into one of the world's leading strategic communications consultancies, which now employs over 600 colleagues across 24 offices worldwide, advising over 1000 clients.
During this period Charles oversaw the launch of FD into new markets around the world (including Russia, the Middle East, Hong Kong, China, South Africa, Latin America and Australia) and successful acquisition of ten smaller consultancies which have subsequently been integrated within the FD group.
In September 2006 he led the process which resulted in the acquisition of FD by FTI Consulting – a leading US-based strategic consulting group (NYSE FCN).
He now sits on the FTI executive management board. |
